How we read neck and shoulder pain. Ache and numbness are its two cardinal signs, and they do not point the same way: ache arises where structure has gone off and qi and blood stagnate; numbness follows a nerve segment.
Degeneration on a scan is not, by itself, the disease — a bone spur is the body's compensation, and symptoms need a trigger: wind-cold, injury, or years of head-down strain.

What the needles do is set qi and blood in motion and redistribute them along the channels, so the compressed segment is supplied again; the work is done with movement and traction, at a distance — the neck is not forced.
